Camp Sylvan and the Thomas Tract offer nearly 440 acres of outdoor opportunity for our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Sylvan's natural resources include virgin Carolinian forest, marshes, creeks, pine plantations, fields, and hills. The Ausable River Valley is categorized as the second most important Carolinian botanical site in Middlesex County. You can learn more about Carolinian forests on the Thomas Tract page. Camp Sylvan is threaded with a variety of trails and footpaths, making it an ideal location for rambles and hikes. Orienteering, map-reading, even GPS-related activities are well-suited to Sylvan, to say nothing of stalking games and the classics like Capture the Flag. Their Trail Map will provide you with a great start on these activities, and check out their Activities page for further ideas. Adjacent to Camp Sylvan, the Thomas Tract provides an opportunity for our Group to enjoy some of the most spectacular forest in all of Middlesex County, perhaps even all of Southern Ontario. It is a wonderful hiking destination from any of the sites at Camp Sylvan.
Camp Sylvan is located on Highway 7 between Parkhill and Thedford, about 1 hour 45 minutes from Waterloo, Ontario.
